I talked the talk, now it’s time to walk the walk!
An article in January’s newsletter suggested now is a good time to schedule your annual exam. I have family members that schedule their routine exams around their birthday. Others schedule their annual exam at the start of daylight savings time. Heey, I change the batteries in my smoke detectors at the start of daylight savings time. Anyway for me, the beginning of the new year is the best time to put the annual exam on the books.
Scheduling my annual exam this year gonna be a little different because I received a notice from my doctor’s office stating my doctor is no longer practicing. Dang, doctors are quitting their jobs too? Now, I gotta go through the hassle of finding a new doc.
Yeah, I said hassle. If you recall in my first blog post I said “Have a team approach to your health care, whereas your doctor is a team member, albeit an important team member, maybe the Michael Jordan of the team….” So basically, I’m looking to replace MJ. This won’t be an easy task, just ask Scottie Pippen. The doctor I choose must, let me say it again, MUST be someone I can easily converse with, respect, trust, and feel comfortable with. This definitely is a selection I don’t wanna mess up. Don’t get me wrong, after I meet with my new doctor and the vibe doesn’t feel right, I would have ZERO problems going back to the drawing board. Got 99 problems, but firing a doctor ain’t one.
After careful research and talking with my team, I finally decided on a new primary physician.
Hi I’m David Henderson, calling to schedule an appt with Dr. Williams.
“Are you a new patient?”
Yes.
“Dr. Williams is not accepting new patients.”
What?
“I can put you on a waiting list. His nurse will call you once he allows new patients again.”
WTH.
