I started cycling as a means to help manage my diabetes. Along the way I developed a passion for cycling, so much so, I started a multi-state charity bike ride, GameDay MetricTour. Organizing this event takes a gargantuan effort!
Ironically this passion for cycling has made my schedule very compressed, family, my job, 4 hour round trip commute to work, cycling, and GameDayMetric Tour. But I never stopped sharing my story in hope to inspire others, I just did it differently, more one-on-one versus blogging. Although I wasn’t updating SMF frequently, I was still out there sounding the trumpet for managing your health care!
Recently, my wife informed me I had inspired recently diagnosed family members with Type II diabetes to meet their diabetes challenge head on. I’m glad to report they too are successfully managing this disease.
To hear family members say my story DIRECTLY inspired them to manage their diabetic condition really touched me! Their success has inspired me to make time in my busy schedule so I can continue to share my diabetic journey here on SMF to reach even more people, like I had originally envisioned, to manage their health care.
