Several of my team members took me to the mat based on my last post concerning my cashew nuts addiction. Please chill! In actuality, not only are nuts heart healthy but research shows they are possibly beneficial for people with diabetes.
Livestrong.com reported on cashews in particularly, “[that] a research study published in ‘Journal of Herbal Pharmacotherapy’ in 2005 showed that when dried cashew nut extract was given orally to healthy rats and those with induced diabetes, both groups had significantly lower blood sugar level three hours after extract administration. Thus cashew nuts may offer anti-hyperglycemic benefits.”
Bam! Cashews may lower my blood sugar levels!
On the real-tip, I realize consuming an 8 oz can of cashews a day is too much even with the possible anti-hyperglycemic benefits identified in the study. I’m going to cut back on my consumption, but team members please stop with the text messages, phone calls, threats, suggesting I go through the AA 12-step program for my cashew addiction, etc. Just chill! Moderation is the key!
