In my pursuit of a low carb lifestyle, what I find difficult, besides bypassing desserts, is bypassing fruit juice. Basically I love juice drinks, unfortunately fruit drinks and low carb don’t go together. So I find myself gulping tons of Diet Coke to somewhat satisfy my urge for a flavored drink. I know, I know, my team members have told me a thousand times that drinking tons of Diet Coke isn’t healthy. However, it quenches my urged for a flavored drink. I’ve tried the flavored waters, and that’s exactly what it tastes like, flavored water which definitely does not satisfy my urge for a juice drink.
Today on the way home, I stopped by Wawa’s (heck of a name for a convenience store, right?) to pick up a cheese snack for the ride home. While looking in the refrigerated section, I noticed this drink from Snapple, Noni Berry low calorie juice drink. Wala, a juice drink with only 2 carbs per serving!!! I’ve found nirvana! After purchasing the drink I noticed it only contained 5% juice, I thought what the heck, it has to be better than flavored water. Much to my delight the flavor of this drink was pretty good. Although it was only 5% juice it tasted very natural.
I’m not a doctor, nutritionist, nor dietician, I’m just a country boy trying to save his foot, and I must say this low carb drink tastefully quenches my desire for a fruit drink. With this new drink from Snapple now in my repertoire I can cut back on the Diet Cokes which makes my team members happy. However, this drink is one of Snapple’s energy drinks so it’s loaded with caffeine but I won’t share that info with my team that will be our little secret…. 😉
