Forgive me Father for I have sinned.
Over the weekend, I attended Yale commencement exercises to see my daughter graduate (the reason I haven’t updated my blog in while as we prepared for family & friends from several states attending her graduation, celebrations activities, moving her out of the dorm into an apartment, etc.). Needless to say, I ate too many carbohydrates, and got too little exercise. However, my gl level remain under 121 albeit this is higher than what I normally get, but its still under the ADA recommended levels before meals.
Since I’ve been on this journey to control my diabetes without medication, by philosophy has been that I’m not on a diet but I have a low-carb lifestyle. I think I’ve been successful in maintaining my low-carb lifestyle for over 17 months now, because I don’t deny myself. When I do crave something I “shouldn’t have” I usually give in to the craving by having a very small portion. I think if try to deny myself the craving will eventually win out, and when that happens instead of eating a small portion I will gorge. Hopefully, this craving for “forbidden” foods doesn’t happen frequently.
This past weekend I did not maintain my small portion sizes, upon my return home I’m back to my normal routine, and all is good.
