“I never get sick. I’ve taken control of my health, take a multi-vitamin, eat a low-carb diet, and drink wheatgrass juice daily.”
Those where the words I uttered to my son at the beginning of the week while he was recovering from a cold that he had been battling for a few days. Needless to say, by Thursday afternoon my throat began to get sore and by Friday morning I was in the midst of a full blown cold. Although I did go to work Friday, I was feeling so bad that I left later that morning so I could get home to take some heavy duty medicine, the kind that puts you to sleep. As you probably have already guessed when my son arrived home that afternoon from school he had a big laugh, “I thought you didn’t get sick!”
Today is Sunday and I’ve recovered, for the most part, from my cold. But I don’t want to push things so I’m cutting today’s entry short. But the point of today’s entry is just because you’ve taken control of your health care doesn’t mean you’re cured and/or have overcome your ailment, which you just may, but taking control of your health care doesn’t guarantee that you will. What taking control of your health care does mean is you are an active participant and have accepted responsibility in ensuring you receive the best care possible as defined by and acceptable to you.
